[Alexis notices the quest boards easily enough. They’re hard to miss, and the tasks seem interesting. It’ll be something new to try while she’s here, if she can’t get home.

It takes her a moment to work out how to use the odd bird-shaped device, but once she does, Gabriel will get the following voice message:] I think you might like these quests. [Riven would have very different priorities for them, based on what Alexis has heard.] Are there any that interest you? Most of them seem like they’d be easier for two or more people.

[Gabriel is shocked to receive a message from Alexis, but very happy to get it nonetheless]
Alexis! Are you well? It’s wonderful to hear from you, I missed you dearly! I guess you and Riven ended up here as well, and though it was a selfish wish, I had hoped that you would be. As for quests, I suppose the two called ‘An Ancient Secret’ and ‘Bad Moon Rising’, but it shouldn’t only be my decision. I don’t want to take you on any quests that you don’t want to go on. You should also suggest any quests you want to go on, and I will do my best to accompany you, if you so wish.

I don’t mind needing to eat and sleep, but it’s strange. [She’d been able to figure out what those sensations meant before her body was deprived for too long, so she doesn’t see it as a problem. This could change how she experiences emotions, and if it does, it might be helpful.]

I think ‘Bad Moon Rising’ could be useful. It looks like a good opportunity to explore this place.

I agree! I was actually already planning on doing that quest as well, considering my medicine and herbal skills. Having you along would be truly wonderful. I miss interacting with both you and Riven, I care deeply about both of you after all.
Eating and sleeping is something I have always had to do, but I understand how it could be hard for you, if you need any help with any of these new problems, I’ll do my best to assist you. I’m not sure I’ll be of much help, but I’ll try my best.

This is the first time I’ve really felt anything, physically. It’s interesting. [She prefers it to feeling nothing but the occasional mysterious sensation.

She’s not sure how she feels about the idea of someone feeling concern for her. Some of Riven’s exes have cared about her, but they tended to think of her as boring compared to Riven. This is different, but she’s not sure why.]

I’ll try to come find you, and I can look for the driftwood on the way. [It’ll give her a chance to explore this place.] Do you know where you are?

Gabriel's happy to hear that ALexis is planning on seeking him out,he was planning on doing the same, but when she says it it makes him feel like she cares, and having one of the people you love care about you is a wonderful feeling

I'm glad to hear it doesnt make you feel unwell. I'm in the tavern. The one where I first came in at. I had been listening to gossip to see if I could find some news about you or Riven. I hope we can meet soon. I miss you. You're nice to be around, and I...well...I love you. I know you probably dont feel that way yet, and that's fine. I'm just glad to be your boyfriend, and to be around you.

[I don’t know if I’ll ever feel like that, she thinks, but doesn’t say. It’s not a stretch to assume that she’s capable of feeling love, but she doesn’t know what kind she’ll feel, or if she’ll be able to recognize it.]

I don’t think anyone’s met both Riven and I yet, [she says, in lieu of responding to I love you. If someone had met both of them, it would have drawn attention to her, but no one seems to have really noticed her yet. She knows how to blend in.] I’ll see you soon.

[Gabriel knows she's probably not going to say anything yet, and he doesnt mind. It would be unfair to ask her to feel the same as him so soon into the relationship. He doesnt truly understand how he fell so fast himself, but he supposes that's how it is. He's never been in love before, so he wouldnt know.]

[Without access to the Rift or anyone else’s emotions, all she can do is walk. She spends a while wandering along the docks, both searching for the driftwood and exploring the market. She arrives at the tavern a couple of hours after she leaves, the driftwood in her hand.]

[Gabriel's waiting near the front of the tavern, and though he does not notice her at first, when he does, his eyes light up like he just saw Serenrae descend.]

Alexis!!! I'm so glad you're okay! Do you need help carrying the wood?

[He pulls her into a hug, a mist of tears in his eyes]

I was so glad to get the message from you, it would've ended me if I never got to see you or the others ever again. I missed you so much it hurt.

[She sets the wood down, careful not to break the salt crystals off of it. When he hugs her, she returns the gesture quietly.]

It’s not very heavy. [The chunk that she found is about the size of her arm.]

Have you found some of the others here, too? [She hasn’t had a chance to look for them physically, and she can’t search for their minds.]

[Gabriel looks down at the ground, sadness and wistfulness in his eyes, before shaking his head.]

No, I've found none of the others, so far it looks like you and me are the only ones.

[It’s strange to see his emotions without sensing them, like she’s trying to have a conversation with her ears plugged but she doesn’t yet know how to read lips.]

Maybe it’s better for them to be in our world than here. It’s like this place is falling apart.

[She pulls out her journal and crosses out the driftwood on the list she made of the quest items.] Do you know what a silverpaw is? [She can tell that it’s a plant, but Gabriel is a healer. He’d know more than she would.]

I actually already have some of those, theyre easier to find than you might expect.

[He rummages in one of the herb pouches around his belt, before pulling out some silvery flowers that with some strech of the imagination could resemble a paw.]

All that's left is the black sand..but that will be quite the ordeal. You do not have to come with me, I do not wish to subject you to danger.

I’ll look for the gooseberries, then. I haven’t been up to Heaven’s Bow yet.

[She looks down at her notes about the quest and the part about the black sand. Without her shapeshifting, she’s not as useful in a fight as she could be.]

Are you sure? If neither of us have our usual abilities, two bodies could be better than one.

That's a good plan. But about my powers....well, I have gained two back.
